FAQ
Answers before you book
Common questions about insurance, appointments, and what to expect from care with Lymphedema MD.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A referral isn't required to schedule an evaluation with our clinical team. If you're already working with a primary care physician or oncologist, we're glad to coordinate directly with them as part of your care.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a clinical evaluation of your symptoms and history, a discussion of your treatment options, and, if appropriate, a compression garment fitting or equipment recommendation. Appointments can take place in person, at your home, or by telehealth.
Do you offer telehealth visits?
Yes. Many follow-up visits and symptom check-ins can be done by telehealth. Your first evaluation and any garment fitting typically require an in-person or in-home visit.
Do you come to my home?
For patients who have difficulty traveling, our clinical team offers house calls for evaluations, fittings, and follow-up care.
Coverage & Cost
Do you accept insurance?
We work with many major insurance plans, including Medicare, for compression garments, equipment, and clinical visits. Since coverage varies by plan, our team verifies your specific benefits before your appointment so there are no surprises.
What does insurance typically cover?
Coverage depends on your specific plan and diagnosis, but compression garments, DME, and clinical evaluations are commonly covered, at least in part, by most major insurers. We'll confirm your exact benefits before any equipment is ordered.
About Lymphedema
Is lymphedema curable?
Lymphedema is currently a lifelong condition rather than one that's cured, but it can be effectively managed. With the right combination of compression, care, and monitoring, most patients see significant improvement in swelling, comfort, and mobility.
How is Lymphedema MD different from a hospital lymphedema clinic?
We built our model around concierge, full-service care — compression fittings, equipment, house calls, telehealth, and PCP coordination all handled by one team, rather than pieced together across separate departments or providers.
Service Area
What areas do you serve?
We currently serve patients in the Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio areas, with in-person, in-home, and telehealth options depending on your location.
